Your home market has decided to only allow 12 different car brands to be sold new in the country at a time. What 12 brands would you say must be kept?

Either you’d create a bunch of jobs for mechanics or Ford, Honda, and Subaru would absolutely dominate sales!

But but but... TACOMA! Actually, taking a second look. you have completely wiped mid size trucks from the market =(. What if I trade you Bentley for Toyota? You know you’re never going to buy a Bentley anyway!

I am very upset almost no one is keeping Mazda. SO...
Mazda, Toyota, Ford, Honda (only because I need a steady stream of used motorcycles), Tesla, Hyundai (they’re comin up!), Subaru, Porsche. I’m done.

I’d have to bring in Cadillac to Croatia since it doesn’t exist here. Tnx lol

This post inspired me to try to figure out how many brands there are currently for sale in Canada. I count 41, 42 if you split Dodge and Ram, and then 43 if Scion is for sale in Canada which I don’t think is the case.
That’s a lot of eliminating to do, even if you don’t allow brands that aren’t available here. I refuse.

Ford, Dodge. Ram, Honda, Toyota, Kia, Subaru, Chevy, Cadillac, Lincoln, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg,
Does Viper count as it’s own brand now? If so dump Toyota, if Prius counts as its own brand now. And I’d sacrifice All of GM to bring back Saab.

Toyota, Honda, [Mazda], Nissan, [Kia, Hyundai], Ford, Chevy, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Skoda (oh shit a Skoda dealership in the Philippines).
Consolidate Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Ferrari sales into one dealership selling cars 8 months old. Same with JLR and Aston, as well as Porsche. Isuzu here is mostly trucks and SUVs anyway—NOT CARS—so they’re exempted. Subaru is shit out of luck.

Interesting challenge, I got it down to 12 and gave reasons why I chose them.
Alfa Romeo - Every petrolhead needs one.
BMW - The best luxury brand around with nice dynamics to match.
Citroën - Innovative tech and they even owned Maserati for a while.
Jaguar - High displacement, great sounds like a classy British muscle car.
Lancia - All that’s good (and bad) about Alfa x100, also rallying.
Mazda - Normal brand that is fun to drive and makes Miatas, rotaries etc.
Peugeot - Sturdy wagons and crazy rally cars.
Porsche - Great performance brand, but also a great tuner (500E and RS2).
Saab - Really innovative brand with one of the coolest heritages yet.
Subaru - Same reasons as Peugeot but with gold wheels.
Toyota - Fantastic engines, off-roaders and the MR2 was a genius idea.
Volvo - Does luxury with subtlety and turbo bricks.
